"The Crucifixion and Burial of Christ"

Charcoal on grey card heightened with white chalk

Having been influenced by Rembrandt’s etchings, the artist decided to create “a working drawing”.

The three crosses set the scene and everything else works around them.

It is a tonal drawing and having used just black and white, has enabled the image to remain as one. Had colour been introduced, there would certainly have been a division between the crucifixion and burial.
