"Arabesque"

Oil on canvas

Influenced by the orientalist painters of the 19th Century, the model (Farah) was dressed in typical Middle Eastern attire and placed in a Middle Eastern environment.

The artist was inspired by the Leighton House Museum (Kensington) and worked on location with his model for three weeks, after which he continued to paint at his studio, with the help of sketches and photographs.

The Arabic Hall at Leighton House were perfect as a backdrop with its blue tiles and marble columns.
